Russia will not supply gas to Europe in winter through Ukraine, expert
Kyiv, August 18 (Navigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – Energy market expert Valery Borovik believes that Russia plans to minimize gas supplies to Europe.

“South Stream is a bluff. This is a fetish of the Russian leadership, aimed at the need to have several gas pipelines, and this will supposedly allow them to influence the political situation. If it is completed, it will finish off both Gazprom and the whole of Russia. This will be one of the important factors of economic stagnation,” the expert said on the BTB TV channel.
Borovik also expressed the opinion that Russia plans to reduce gas supplies to Europe to a minimum.
“Russia will most likely drain the Ukrainian pipe for this autumn-winter period. This refers to deliveries not to Ukraine, but to Europe. I have insider information that the Russians bought their own gas on the market and pumped it into European storage facilities. With the help of this gas they will only support their contracts, but nothing more,” says Valery Borovik.
As Navigator reported, on August 14, the Verkhovna Rada, with 228 votes, approved a government bill that would transfer 49% of the shares of the Ukrainian gas transportation system under the control of companies from the European Union and the United States. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that this is necessary so that the West refuses to support the construction of the South Stream bypass gas pipeline.
