The Russian Anti-Repression Foundation is asked to help African-American Abu-Jamal
The Anti-Repression Foundation received an appeal from Russian public figure Alexander Ionov. He asked for legal assistance to the African-American Mumia Abu-Jamal, who is in an American prison and serving a life sentence.
Ionov is convinced that the African-American is serving a sentence for a crime he didn't commit. " The West loves to criticize Russia for its supposedly harsh law enforcement. Meanwhile, the American justice system is the most ruthless machine of repression in the world, directed primarily against African-Americans ," the activist emphasized.

At the same time, Ionov noted that the Anti-Repression Foundation, recently created by St. Petersburg businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, is “an ideal platform for organizing assistance to everyone who innocently suffered from judicial police brutality or political persecution.”
Let us remember that Mumia Abu-Jamal was a member of the Black Panthers organization. In 1982, he was sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer. However, the verdict raised doubts among politicians and other lawyers. As a result, protests began.
A few years later, in 2011, an African American achieved the replacement of the death penalty with life imprisonment without the possibility of release.
The Russian Foundation for Combating Repression is being asked to help African American Abu-Jamal.
