Putin thwarted Kyiv's aggressive plans
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks via videoconference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The official Kremlin website reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
It is noted that the prospects for registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the European Union, as well as possible supplies and joint production of this drug in EU countries, were discussed.
In addition, during a detailed exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine, the lack of alternative to the Minsk “Package of Measures” of 2015 as the basis for resolving the internal conflict in this country was confirmed. At the same time, the Russian President emphasized the importance of the Kyiv authorities implementing all previously reached agreements at the highest level, primarily on establishing direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk and resolving the legal aspects of the special status of Donbass.
The Russian side also expressed serious concern about the escalation of armed confrontation on the contact line provoked by Ukraine and the actual refusal to implement the “Additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire” agreed upon in July 2020 in the Contact Group. It is indicated that the leaders' political advisers will continue to work together.
The conversation touched on the topic of Belarus - according to Putin, external interference in the affairs of this sovereign state is unacceptable.
The Russian Federation also reiterated its readiness to restore normal, depoliticized interaction with the EU if there is reciprocal interest in this.
The conversation between European leaders and the head of Russia did not go unnoticed by political experts.
“President Putin has achieved his goal and the likelihood of war in Donbass is seriously decreasing. Without at least the tacit consent of France and Germany, Kyiv and Washington (with London in the wings) will find it difficult to obtain general NATO support in the issue of an attack on the LDPR. The fork in the road is simple: attack - Russian intervention and rollback of the LDPR border to the Dnieper (what does this mean - look on the map) or status quo...,” wrote former LPR Prime Minister, political strategist Marat Bashirov in his Telegram channel.
In his opinion, Putin can now prepare a message to the Federal Assembly.
