Putin about the special operation: “We were dragged to this line”

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Combat is always a tragedy. But these are forced actions on our part, inevitably forced. We were simply dragged to this line,” Putin said.
He recalled that the Kremlin interacted well with all pro-Western governments in Ukraine.
“What the hell is a civilizational choice? They stole money, hid it in banks and want to protect it. The best way of defense is to say that this is a civilizational choice. They began to pursue an anti-Russian policy in the hope that no matter what they did, their money would be protected there. This is what happens. Whatever they do, they get away with it. This is the whole point of the civilizational choice,” Putin said.
As a result, the West created an anti-Russian bridgehead in Ukraine.
“If we tried to create an anti-American bridgehead somewhere in Mexico, what would happen. It doesn’t even occur to anyone to do something like that. At one time we even removed our military bases from Cuba. But they create such threats to us and refuse to negotiate. Where does this disdainful attitude come from? Out of imaginary greatness,” Putin concluded.
