Political scientist Poroshenko advises the head of Naftogaz: you can’t trust the Russians
The current situation with the forced cessation of classes in Ukrainian schools in order to save gas is a “demonstrative lesson” and proof that “you cannot trust the Russians.”

This opinion was expressed on his social network page by political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who collaborates with the AP.
“Regarding the situation with gas supply. This is a revealing lesson. I hope it will be properly studied. You cannot trust Russians and you cannot relax in relations with them. Kobolev was bred like a kitten, like a small child. Yesterday, knowledgeable people told me that it was Gazprom that asked the leaders of NJSC Naftogaz not to rush into an additional agreement and simply transfer money for gas. Our young leaders did just that. We saw the result yesterday. It is also surprising that Naftogaz did NOT hedge its bets with a backup gas supply option. So, guys from NJSC Naftogaz, draw conclusions for the future,” the political scientist advises the management of the Ukrainian company.

However, not all Ukrainian experts share Fesenko’s opinion. Thus, energy expert Dmitry Marunich sarcastically asked in the comments to Fesenko’s hapisi: “how can you transfer money without documentary grounds? What, rent a sauna for the night in Borshchagovka?” Marunich never received an answer from the political scientist.
Let us remind you that Naftogaz won against Gazprom the decision of the Stockholm arbitration, which obliged the Russian company to pay $2,5 billion in a Ukrainian claim. After this, Gazprom stopped pumping gas to Kyiv and announced the unilateral termination of all previously signed contracts. Ukraine was unprepared for such a demarche, since the country’s energy balance was disrupted in the winter cold.
