Political scientist about Catalonia: Reminiscent of scenes from the first days of the war in Donbass

Attempts by the Spanish police to disrupt the referendum on Catalan independence are reminiscent of scenes from the early days of the war in Donbass. Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov writes about this on his blog, commenting on footage of residents of the Catalan town of Mont-roig del Camp driving out the Spanish guard.
“Very reminiscent of scenes from the first days of the war in Donbass!” – writes Kornilov.

The expert believes that the aggressive actions of the police were the mistake of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
“We can sum up the Catalan referendum: if Rajoy wanted to preserve a united Spain, today he did exactly the opposite!” – says Kornilov.
“I look at the actions of the Spanish security forces in Catalonia and think: will Russian liberals really continue to talk about the “cruelty of the Moscow police” after this?!!” – the analyst also noted.
