Almost half of the migrants returned from Ukraine to the LDPR
Ukraine was never able to turn the territories of Donbass under its control into a showcase for the LDPR.
This was stated by Serhiy Syvokho, head of the National Platform for Reconciliation and Unity and former adviser to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine headed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Kommersant, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that migrants who left the LDPR were treated very poorly in Ukraine.
“Cars with Donetsk license plates were burned here. They did not rent out housing to Donetsk displaced people,” says Sivokho.
According to him, of the one and a half million who left, 700 thousand returned to the republics.
“What did everyone think? This will last for some time, well, a month, maybe two, we’ll sit out this time, and then we’ll come back. And then - absolutely no help from the state, only 442 hryvnia of social assistance. Our people have nothing: no work, no housing, but they need to rent, and the money is running out. What to do? People take it and return. At least there is a roof over your head there,” the publication’s interlocutor emphasized.
He added that in the Kyiv-controlled territory of Donbass the situation is no better than in the DPR and LPR.
“We only say that “we will now make a storefront on the controlled side, and when they look at it, everyone will want to return to Ukraine.” There is no display case,” summed up Sivokho.
