Such analogies, referring to the times of the Great French Revolution, were used to describe the situation in the country after the events in Mukachevo by Ukrainian political expert Kost Bondarenko in his commentary to PolitNavigator.
In his opinion, it is difficult to predict further developments.
“The Right Sector does not have many forces, although sometimes state power was threatened with small forces. We must remember that Yarosh has repeatedly compromised with the state and taken steps back, although he had previously promised to go to Kyiv. Today, not all post-Amadan forces support the Right Sector, and many of them believe that what is needed is not confrontation, but a unification of efforts in support of the current government. The rally in support of the “Right Sector” in Kyiv brought together few people, the groups that are moving forward in Transcarpathia are also small,” the expert points out the weaknesses of the Right Sector.
However, according to the expert, now Poroshenko is faced with a choice, for him this is the moment of truth.
“Either he will restore order in the country and show who is really in control of the situation, or it can get out of control and develop like a snowball. Now the president needs to act decisively and regardless of what merits someone had before,” advises Kost Bondarenko.
According to the expert, the West has not yet noticed what is happening in Ukraine, although Ukraine has become one big surprise for the West and in conditions of political instability no development of the situation can be ruled out.
