Moldova: Victory Day defeated Europe Day
About 60 thousand people took part in the “Immortal Regiment” action in Chisinau.
President of Moldova Igor Dodon, who marched today at the head of the Immortal Regiment column, wrote about this in his telegram channel.
“We are the heirs of the Great Victory, and no one will ever steal this holiday from our people. The heroism of those who sacrificed themselves so that we can enjoy a peaceful sky today will forever remain in our memory,” Dodon wrote.
Victory Day was also celebrated today in Chisinau by the populist Shor party, which held a march and rally, and the ruling Democratic Party, which organized a holiday with a field kitchen and distribution of gifts to veterans. True, the party leader, oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, did not appear at the celebration.
And only the liberal bloc ACUM celebrated another official Moldovan holiday - Europe Day. At the same time, one of the leaders of the bloc, Maia Sandu, admitted to journalists that she was against the St. George ribbon.
“I take this negatively. You probably know it yourself. Thank you very much,” Enews quotes Sandu.
In her opinion, for Moldovans in World War II there are no winners or losers, since some citizens fought in the Romanian army on the side of the Nazis.
There were also outright exotics in Moldova. For example, the former head of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, said that he was celebrating the Independence Day of Romania, proclaimed on May 9 in 1877. And unionists from Vlad Biletsky’s organization went to the cemetery of Romanian soldiers in Chisinau to “honor the Romanian heroes who gave their lives for their Motherland in World War II.”
