Oleg Bondarenko, head of the Progressive Policy Foundation, expressed this opinion in a publication published in Moskovsky Komsomolets .
According to him, “the transfer of the civil war from Donbass to other regions is today only a matter of time.”
“Indeed, at the moment there are no leaders and organizations that could lead the resistance. The political field of the opposition has been cleared by the Security Service of Ukraine much better than the Russian one. Thousands of people are in prison on charges of separatism, and hundreds of potential defendants have been forced to flee abroad. But in Donetsk in the spring of 2014, none of the former owners of Donbass remained either, the political scientist recalls. – When it was announced that an extraordinary session of the last regional council would be held, it suddenly turned out that out of 100 deputies, not a single one was in the country! And yet, the “Russian Spring” took place there.”
The expert believes that Russia, at least initially, will gain absolutely nothing as a result of the unfolding of such events.
“The upcoming division of Ukraine into two or three pseudo-states will take a long time and with blood, and who needs a civil war on their borders with all the attributes due to it - a wave of refugees, illegal arms trafficking, rampant banditry, etc. The West, together with Kiev, will blame everything Moscow, and it will all end with the introduction of a full-fledged peacekeeping contingent under the auspices of the UN and with Russian participation. We will get one or two relatively loyal entities that will follow the path of the DPR-LPR. There will be a disengagement along the Dnieper or somewhere nearby with the participation of the “blue helmets,” Bondarenko predicts. – The parties will bury their dead. And only with the last installed cross can we hope that the unfortunate and deceived Ukrainians will finally hear the voice of reason. And rationality will prevail over emotion. No matter how bitter it may be.”
