Maidan activists in the Parliament: “Nord Stream 2” is bringing our end closer

Ukraine’s economic problems will further worsen after the commissioning of Nord Stream 2, which creates the threat of a change of power in Kyiv and even pro-Russian revenge.

Anna Gopko, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs, shared these concerns on the Espresso TV channel.

“Together with the Lithuanian parliamentarians, the former two prime ministers, we considered that in 2019, if GDP continues to be 2,3%, then the population will become impoverished with all these populists who will continue to promise $600 pensions, which is impossible in the near future... And these will be the promises that we have seen for the last 25 years. And there will be revenge – either by populists or pro-Russian forces.

We need to look ahead. And understand that challenges for statehood in 2019... And if there is also Nord Stream 2, this will be an additional minus 2 billion.

And we need to understand – with a pension fund deficit of minus 144 billion – where now to take responsibility for decisions that can later have such consequences, and we will be turned away from the course of European integration,” said Gopko.
