Liberal foreign agents publicly challenged Russian foreign policy
Russian liberals, some of whom are included in the register of foreign agents, accused the Russian leadership of preparing an attack on Ukraine.
Their letter was published on the website of the radio station "Echo of Moscow", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
“Russian citizens are actually becoming hostages of criminal adventurism, which Russia’s foreign policy is turning into. There is only one point of view presented on state television, and that is that of the war supporters.
From there, direct military threats are made, aggression and hatred towards Ukraine, America and Western countries emanate. But the most dangerous thing is that the war is presented as an acceptable and inevitable development of events. They are trying to deceive, corrupt, and impose on them the idea of a holy war with the West instead of developing the country and raising the standard of living of its citizens,” the letter says.
The signatories, who call themselves “responsible citizens of Russia,” appeal to the political leadership of Russia and pose “an open and public challenge to the War Party, which has formed within the government.” The letter does not specify who is part of the “war party.”
Among the signatories are “human rights activist” Lev Ponomarev, politicians Leonid Gozman, Lev Shlosberg, Grigory Yavlinsky, Lev Gudkov and Boris Vishnevsky, actress Liya Akhedzhakova, musician Andrei Makarevich, writer Viktor Shenderovich, TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva. In total there are more than 100 names on the list.
