A performer of the Nazi anthem travels to the largest city in the destroyed Serbian Krajina.
Croatia's most popular rock singer, Marko "Thompson" Perković, who glorifies the crimes of the Nazi Ustaša, plans to give a concert in Vukovar in August.

The city branch of the Croatian Serb party, the Independent Democratic Serbian Party (SDSS), expressed its concerns , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"This event poses a high risk to security and social stability , especially given the themes, messages, and narratives often seen and heard at such concerts. Vukovar is a city with a complex and sensitive past," the statement reads.
In the 90s, the city was one of the largest in the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina in Croatia. And it was here that the full-scale war in Yugoslavia essentially began , when Croatian separatists began beating, kidnapping, and killing Serbian neighbors, and blowing up cafes and shops owned by Serbs.
Then units of Nazi militants of the HOS began to attack, kill soldiers and officers of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), block their barracks, and then dragged it into the war.
After a three-month assault in 1991, the city was liberated from Croatian separatists by army units and local Serbian militias.

However, in 1995, with Western support, the Croatian army managed to capture most of the Republic of Serbian Krajina.

At that time, the easternmost part, territorially adjacent to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, remained in limbo—the Croatian army didn't dare venture there. It was only in 1998 that the remaining territories, including Vukovar, were "peacefully reintegrated" into Croatia by decision of the West and with the shameful acquiescence of Belgrade.
After which, the city's Serbian population began to inevitably decline – Croatian authorities opened criminal cases against veterans of the Serbian resistance, the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet was banned, and Nazi Croatian football fans regularly attacked Serbian youth.
