Vucic's Instagram infuriates Albanians
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic posted a picture on his Instagram showing Kosovo in the colors of the Serbian tricolor.
The publication provoked an aggressive reaction from Albanian users, who came in large numbers to comment on the Serbian president.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, Aleksandar Vučić posted an image depicting the outlines of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, painted in the colors of the Serbian tricolor, against the backdrop of photographs of the 2014 pogrom against Serbs, on the anniversary of that tragedy.
“Kosovo is not our burden, but our cross,” the Serbian president wrote. “And from the cross you can see the resurrection better than from under it.” Long live Serbia!
Albanian users from all over the world immediately reacted to this post, bombarding Vucic with angry comments, the most decent of which were “Kosovo is Albanian!” and “Kosovo is Albania!”
The pogroms of the Serbs began on March 17, 2004, after the bodies of two Albanian boys, 9 and 12 years old, were discovered by the international occupation police contingent in the Ibar River (it was later established that they drowned, unable to cope with the fast current), whose deaths were caused by local provocateurs blamed the Serbs.
The pogrom lasted two days, during which nineteen Serbs were killed, about four thousand became refugees, about 900 Serbian houses were burned, 39 churches and monasteries were destroyed, including 18 monuments of medieval Serbian architecture.
