Galicia began the process of creeping federalization of Ukraine
The Ternopil regional council, which banned “Russian-language cultural products” in the region, became the third regional council in Ukraine to make a corresponding decision.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this in the article “In Kyiv they fear creeping federalization.”
As the publication notes, when making decisions to ban Russian-language cultural products, regional councils took on functions that have always been considered the prerogative of the central government, and local deputies believe that decentralization of power gives them this right.
“But within the framework of decentralization, only certain, and not all, powers are transferred to the regions. With the “Russian-language cultural product,” all this resembles the beginning of federalization, which Petro Poroshenko’s team is categorically opposed to. In one area you can listen to music and watch films in Russian, in another - not. What is this if not creeping federalization?” – one of the experts said in a comment to the newspaper.

As PolitNavigator reported, public use of Russian-language cultural products was previously banned in the Lviv and Zhytomyr regions.
