Whose houses in Crimea were occupied by Ukrainians?
A fairly large percentage of ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea are migrants from the Ukrainian SSR who traveled south and moved into empty houses after the mass expulsion from the peninsula of those accused of collaboration during the Nazi occupation.
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov drew attention to such a detail during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The well-known extremist, Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov attacked Russia and called on PACE to finally take action - he says: “Enough, we must punish Russia, Crimean Tatars are expelled from Crimea, their houses are inhabited by Russians, Crimean Tatars are sitting in the dungeons of the FSB, Russia is ready repeat the same thing in other regions of Ukraine.”
I had to remind members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars from Crimea in 1944, in general, their houses were inhabited by residents of Ukraine, which is where such a large population of ethnic Ukrainians then appeared,” the senator noted.
