Former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov will file a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg to recognize Euromaidan as a coup in Ukraine.
He reported this to the Izvestia newspaper. “I won’t say a specific deadline, but filing a claim is at the final stage,” said the fugitive Ukrainian politician.

Azarov will seek a similar ruling in the West, as the Dorogomilovsky Court in Moscow made in December 2016 – recognizing the events of 2014 as a coup d'état.
The newspaper notes that even if the initiators of the lawsuit in the West are successful, Kyiv will not recognize the court’s decision. “With the same success, the relatives of Nicholas II could file lawsuits in international courts,” said political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko.
However, the verdict may be useful for the reputation of the former Ukrainian leadership, which the current government accuses of numerous crimes and puts on the wanted list.
