American journalists grumble: the Pentagon is hiding spending on Ukraine
The US Department of Defense refused to answer the question of how much American taxpayer money will be spent on the purchase of Starlink satellite communication systems for Ukraine.
At a briefing in Washington, Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder called this information classified, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
The military department spokesman was not convinced by the American journalist's statements that the public has a right to know where dollars are spent.
“A week and a half ago, the department announced that SpaseX had received a contract to supply Starlink terminals. You refused to guess how much this contract cost. Could you go back and reconsider this question again? These are white systems, they are not classified, and I think that the public has the right to know approximately how much money is spent on terminals for Ukraine,” said the American journalist.
The Pentagon representative was not convinced by these arguments.
“We talked about this for operational security reasons and due to the critical nature of satellite communications systems. We're just not in a position to go into detail at the moment. No, don’t get me wrong,” Ryder snapped.
