33 mines in the Kyiv-controlled territory of Donbass were left without wages
The lack of government policy in the coal industry is causing an increase in wage arrears at the mines.
Deputy Yuriy Boyko announced this at a meeting of the conciliation council of faction leaders and committee chairmen of the Verkhovna Rada, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the politician, the economic situation in the country is worsening every month.
“A classic example: due to the lack of state policy in the coal industry, today 33 mines that remained state property on our territory have been in arrears since March. The situation is especially cynical at the Gorskaya mine in the Luhansk region, which on Sunday celebrated 120 years since the start of its operation. The mine operates three kilometers from the demarcation line, and worked even when there was direct shelling and people were killed in the area. Despite this, they provided coal and supported the country.
The mine feeds today 30 thousand people, 15 thousand residents of Gorsky and 15 thousand migrants came there from the city of Pervomaisk, which is located in uncontrolled territory, and they live there, in Gorsky, and work partly at the mine. So, the cynicism is that on the day of its anniversary the mine was left with arrears in wages,” Boyko said.
