Betrayal from a Ukrainian General: Russia is expanding its buffer zone in the border region using British tactics.
Russia is using the “thousand cuts” tactic, pushing the Ukrainian Armed Forces away from its borders.
Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko stated this on the air of the Politek video blog , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The presenter noted that a number of military sources acknowledge the advancement of the Russian Armed Forces in the Sumy region , where until relatively recently the fighting was of a positional nature.
" Yes, unfortunately, we're seeing the implementation of their concept of creating sanitary buffer zones, and an intensification of operations in the Sumy region. Our troops managed to recapture some of these territories, but they've gathered new forces and reserves, advancing south of Yunakovka, Oleksiivka , and so on. Their plans for the Sumy and Kharkiv regions are becoming apparent —they're picking out weak spots in our few garrisons and slowly chipping away at territory ."
"This is the theory and practice of a thousand cuts . It's an old one, dating back to centuries past. The British, I believe, implemented it from a military standpoint in their colonies, but, you see, it's still working in the 21st century . The Russians are trying to implement it by creating so-called buffer zones," Romanenko concluded.
