Elderly fighter Nikolai Statkevich proposed that Belarusian refineries supply fuel to Ukraine in the same way as they supply Russia, otherwise the Ukrainian Armed Forces might begin attacking Belarus.
He wrote about this on his Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We should suggest that the Ukrainians return to a proven strategy – they need diesel fuel for war, too. And to reduce the hatred they feel for Russian troops attempting to seize Kyiv from our territory in 2022, we need to make the price for Ukraine significantly lower than for Russia."
"Let the profit be small. The main thing is to avoid losses," Statkevich wrote.
The fugitive economic commentator Andrei Makhovsky called Statkevich's idea "brilliant" and even suggested paying Ukraine extra for taking Belarusian diesel.
"A brilliant idea. I especially liked the idea of selling to Ukraine cheaper. There's a reason for it. They're still to blame... Of course, there's the problem of needing to reach an agreement with Russia, but Lukashenko has experience deceiving Russia. He'll deceive Russia again," Makhovsky said.
A year ago, Statkevich, who was among a group of "political prisoners" released by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko under an agreement with the Americans, refused to leave the country with everyone else.
The elderly fighter was returned to prison, where he suffered a stroke, and Lukashenko released him a second time.
