Wait for blood: Belomaidan will be revived according to the Ukrainian scenario
Belomaidan will be reanimated by the spring, following the example of Ukraine, where in January 2014 it seemed that the protests were on the decline, but soon they sharply intensified and ended with a coup d’etat.
Franek Vecherka, an adviser to Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who fled to the West, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian newspaper Den.
“Time is actually on our side. Many say that the protests are “deflated.” But that's not true. Of course, people don’t go out in winter, and there is some disappointment that nothing changes. On Maidan in 2014, also in January, the impression was created that everything was over. But people rallied, and everything flared up again. Now we have such a break. In other words, in the fall there was the first half, and in the spring there will be the second half of this confrontation, this match. And I don’t think that Lukashenko has much of a chance to stay,” Vecherka assured.
Vecherka forgot to mention that to “warm up” the fading Euromaidan, a number of provocations were used - the staging of the kidnapping of Maidan activist Bulatov, whose ear was allegedly cut off; beating of journalist Tatyana Chernovol; shooting by “unknown” snipers, etc.
Vecherka also made it clear: the Belarusian opposition is betting that Lukashenko will betray part of his entourage.
“I don’t think Lukashenko will share power. This is a psychotype who is not ready to share anything with anyone and make concessions or compromise. This is a man who absolutely adores himself, his presidency and his office. He will hold on to this post until the end. Lukashenko flew in a helicopter in August with a machine gun and apparently imagined that, like Yanukovych, he would be forced to flee the country. He was actually ready to shoot people with a machine gun so as not to repeat the fate of Yanukovych. Therefore, I do not think that Lukashenko will be at the negotiating table. It seems to me that there will be other people at the negotiating table, from the nomenklatura, who are also dissatisfied with Lukashenko. It's a matter of time. After all, discontent with Lukashenko exists everywhere, not only among the working class, but also in the elite and security forces,” assures Tikhanovskaya’s adviser.
“There are several oligarchs around Lukashenko who keep almost everything under control. They have business in Europe, and when these opportunities are blocked, Lukashenko will cease to be self-confident,” the oppositionist argues.
He repeated the mantra widely used in Ukraine about “peaceful protesters” who, in fact, were armed with firearms and beat and burned police officers.
“As soon as he (Lukashenko - ed.) starts shooting, the next day he will no longer be there. As soon as the massacre and bloody violence begin, his people will immediately arrest him. He will try to provoke us into some kind of violent action, but we consistently demonstrate non-violent protest. We don’t want victims, we show that we are disarmed, that our protest is peaceful, and this ties his hands,” Vecherka assures.
