The inaction of Zelensky's team and the absence of mass protests demanding the swift inauguration of the new president and the punishment of corrupt officials of the outgoing regime will lead to the newly elected president losing control of law enforcement and regional power structures in the near future, which will be very difficult to restore, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This warning was made by a Ukrainian lawyer, former deputy head of the Administration during the times of Viktor Yanukovych, Andrei Portnov.
“I’ll try to explain in human language what the delay in the inauguration and the lack of clear demands for the security forces to leave their posts mean.
This means that all this time Poroshenko’s team not only continues to rob the budget and fossil resources, but also mobilizes around itself the entire bureaucracy, security forces and judges, conveying to them the signal that in the fall they will return and become a force again.
I don’t accept the story that there is no authority yet and therefore no action. A direct public demand of the new President to the Head of the SBU and the Prosecutor General with a demand for resignation will, at a minimum, transfer the apparatuses of these departments, prosecutors and investigators into the paradigm of the new President past their direct superiors and undermine them to the point of political illegitimacy.
And a direct promise to investigate the activities of the ruling elite will bring to the starting position those who need only two days to write the first drafts of petitions to seize the assets of Poroshenko and his team.
Fuzzy signals from unknown advisers to the new President in the judicial system have already led to the fact that right now they are dividing and distributing the positions of judges, holding emergency sessions, urgently appointing personnel and changing the geography of the courts of first instance.
If in the coming days there are no tough and public demands for immediate inauguration, involving mass actions, almost all law enforcement and regional power will be lost in the coming month.
And it will be difficult to restore it, even by holding early parliamentary elections. We need to act immediately and very firmly,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that today Poroshenko replaced the head of the National Guard of Ukraine, placing his own man there. Previously, he replaced the heads of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting and the commander of the Joint Forces Operation in Donbass, and also appointed 77 judges of the Supreme Court.
