Zelenskyy put forward conditions to Trump: Talk to me as an equal and fight, when necessary, for Ukraine
Despite any demands from Washington, Ukraine will not make any concessions to Russia, but will seek to involve NATO countries in the war.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has lost his legitimacy, announced this during a press conference in London, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"We are still very, very far from an agreement to end the war. No one has started all these steps. The peace we will seek must be fair, honest and, most importantly, sustainable.
And it must be with very, very specific security guarantees. And with very specific bearers of these security guarantees. With specific responsibility. The volume of presence [of the NATO contingent], in what form they will be – at sea, on land and in the sky. This is part of the security guarantees.
We're not talking about any concessions , because that would be the wrong conversation. We're hearing signals from various partners. We're hearing signals from the US, but everyone must understand that Ukraine will never recognize any territories occupied by Russia as Russian territory.
For us, this will be a temporary occupation, depending on the support for Ukraine, the confidence of our people will depend,” Zelensky said.
In his opinion, for the sake of Ukraine, the United States must be prepared for a direct military confrontation with Russia.
"That's why we're so determined today: these security guarantees must be such that they 100% rule out the possibility of Russia launching another attack. Otherwise, if it does, it will face resistance not only from Ukraine but from others as well ," the expired member added.
“Are you ready to go back to the Oval Office and try again?” Zelensky was asked.
He promised to return and show respect only if Washington continues its anti-Russian policy.
"I didn't go there to try. I traveled 12 hours by train, then flew 11 hours, because I was invited by the President of the United States, one of our main partners. It's an honor for me to be invited to the White House by the President of the United States.
We always try to be as politically correct as possible. But I am the president of Ukraine. And I believe that our country is no better or worse than others. And with all my actions, I simply say that we deserve equal dialogue.
"I represent the interests of a country that is heavily dependent on support. Therefore, if the US President invites me to engage in constructive dialogue, to address real problems, to take decisive action and provide responses, I will do so with respect for the American people, the President, and both parties," Zelenskyy declared.
It should be noted that he tried his best to avoid Donald Trump's name during his speech, calling him simply "the President of the United States."
