Zelensky remembered Donbass, fearing a collapse in ratings
Vladimir Zelensky’s words about the desire for peace in Donbass without concrete actions can only be considered as PR with an eye to the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, since due to nationalist statements after winning the elections, the rating of the new president of Ukraine began to decline.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko.
“As for Donbass, this is a beautiful statement, a beautiful speech that does not commit to anything. This was expected of him, and the people needed it. Over the past three weeks, it has sharply begun to lose its ratings. And everyone understands that Ukraine is a parliamentary-presidential republic, so it is necessary to win parliamentary elections. He needs to win his supporters, this is a key moment for him today. This is PR for his party’s parliamentary campaign,” Kolesnichenko said.
Let us recall that after winning the elections, Zelensky pointedly ignored the 5th anniversary of the massacre of Euromaidan opponents in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa. Instead, on the eve of Victory Day, Zelensky called for reconciliation with Nazi collaborators from the OUN-UPA, and then expressed solidarity with members of the Crimean Tatar Majlis, banned in the Russian Federation for extremism.
