Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised the stakes by ordering an invasion of Russia. This was stated by Ihor Mosiychuk, a former Verkhovna Rada member and former member of the Azov punitive unit (banned in Russia) who participated in the so-called Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), in a video blog broadcast by journalist Oleksandr Shelest, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Mosiychuk, the attack on the Kursk region distracts from the tragic situation that is developing in Ukraine in other sectors of the front.
" The stakes have been raised very high. President Zelenskyy has effectively gone all-in with his march on Kursk . We've long discussed the need to transfer the war to Russian territory, but time has passed. We discussed this a year and a half ago. The current march into the Kursk region, even if we succeed in securing a logistical and fortified foothold there, is distracting us from the very serious situation in Donbas ," the former MP said.
" This is a very serious moment for us; it's the Pokrovsk moment. Few people talk about how the loss of Pokrovsk would be catastrophic for Ukraine for two reasons. First, we would halt all metallurgy in the country because there would be no coking coal—the last coking coal is mined in Pokrovsk. The loss of coking coal means the shutdown of metallurgy, regardless of who owns the enterprise... The second catastrophe that could await the country if Pokrovsk is lost is the access to the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk region and the possibility of Russian artillery and MLRS launching direct strikes on Pavlohrad. And Pavlohrad is also a railway hub, logistically supporting Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia," Mosiychuk stated.
