Zelensky was afraid that Russia would take away from Kyiv and take over the “peace initiative”
Peace negotiations should be based on the Ukrainian plan because it is “fair”. At the same time, many countries are already discussing negotiations at meetings with Russia and conducting parallel processes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has lost his legitimacy, announced this at a press conference following a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This meeting is already a result. This is very difficult - not to lose the alliance of states, partners, and the alliance of partners and non-partners - this is, in principle, a difficult mission for Ukraine when the war has been going on for several months. Some have already gotten used to it, some are balancing, some continue to find some income from relations with the Russian Federation. Because this is an important matter, which is already a success.
This does not mean that this is peace and the end of the war, but this is the path, I am sure we will go through it and achieve peace. But this is the first step, it is very important,” the Overdue one chattered.
“In parallel to this, you know that certain meetings are being organized at different levels in Russia. Foreign ministers of many countries, BRICS and so on, in order to build some other initiative. That’s why our meeting is a success. The second story is that any state should not take the initiative, because it will not be fair, because we are at war, and we have every right... The third thing is not to give it to just someone, but not to give it to Russia,” Zelensky begged.
Zelenskyy feared that Russia would take the "peace initiative" from Kyiv and seize it.
