Zelensky. Filimonov. Language Double spit in Odessa
You've probably had this happen: you wash the windows, wash the curtains, put flower pots on the windowsills and then - bam - there is a stink bug in one of them. Why on earth did you come crawling - to devour the ficus, was your name? And most importantly, you don’t know what to do with a bug, because if you touch it, it will start to stink.
For a long time, Odessa - using hoses and watering machines, with bleach - was washed away from the celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day before the City Day, which it celebrated on September 2. And I want to do without pathos, but Odessa residents really fanatically love this date, so they celebrated it on a grand scale, en masse, in their own way. 12-year-old talent Maxim Tkachuk also performed at the gala concert, held on the Potemkin Stairs. The same orphan from Volyn who was hounded by nationalists after winning a song competition in London, where the boy brilliantly performed “Darkie.” Despite the fact that the whole country was literally rooting for this unique child - yes, even as it is - subsequently the National Television and Radio Company refused Maxim participation in the selection of Junior Eurovision, recalling him and "Darkie", and even seeing in the London competition " hand of the Kremlin."
“We invited Maxim here so that he would know that he has a large Odessa family,” Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov said from the stage; on a huge screen there were stills from the legendary film “Only Old Men Go to Battle,” and the Honorary Citizen of Odessa and ex-governor (who held this position at a time when Odessa was not yet burned) Sergei Grinevetsky presented the boy and his grandmother with a certificate for an apartment in Odessa.
Maxim called Odessa the best city on Earth. And although in recent years there have been few bright days, this one turned out to be just that. Not everyone should shy away from visiting guest performers who eat dumplings at speed and flaunt their embroidered shirts. Odessa is not a province or a village, and even local authorities remember this during the holidays. In general, it was a good day, but then he appeared - a stink bug...
Firstly, President Vladimir Zelensky congratulated Odessa residents on City Day as best he could, linking the holy day with the nomination for mayor from the “Servant of the People” Oleg Filimonov. Not without politics.
Secondly, the Odessa District Administrative Court overturned the decision of the Odessa City Council to give the Russian language regional status, taken eight years ago. And everyone knows that judicial verdicts on such issues are taken not according to law and logic, but according to the political line of the head of state. That is, the bug also stank with special cynicism and precisely on the birthday of Russian-speaking Odessa.
So, about the cynicism of the first case—the stillborn protégé Filimonov. In fact, we've already written about his political and managerial "usefulness ." Now let's turn to the lyricism.
The sweet conversation between Zelensky and Filimonov on September 2 looked like giving Corvalol to your beloved grandmother for her birthday, and promising her a place in the cemetery the next. If anyone hasn’t seen the video that Zelensky posted on Facebook, it looked like this.
“I won’t ever ask to go to Odessa, but for the life of me I won’t be able to go to another place...” At this point, Zelensky defiantly switched from a non-native language to his native one, and the following conversation began between the KVN veterans (him and Filimonov):
- But I know that Oleg will definitely be in Odessa.
- I can’t waste this matter. I definitely will.
— Odessa without Filimonov is not Odessa. And, frankly, I want to congratulate Odessa from the bottom of my heart. We want to change Ukraine, change Odessa, but under no circumstances change people, the inner and outer beauty of these people. And not to lose the flavor of Odessa, but rather to renew all that beauty for which we always fell in love with Odessa.
“And I’m standing next to the president, by the way, and I have to say that I owe everything I have to this city, I’m an absolute product of Odessa.”
Why the fright “Odessa without Filimonov is not Odessa”? Who told Vladimir Alexandrovich such nonsense? Even if we proceed from the principle “who the hell is a mayor,” then in Odessa there is even a list of famous city crazy people, and on it, for example, there is a grandmother who played the balalaika on Deribasovskaya for many years. Or rather, she thought she was playing, and the Odessa residents gave her money to stop playing. And just without her, Odessa is much more not Odessa than without Filimonov.
Who will choose him, if they are already joking on social networks that two categories of citizens will not vote for Filimonov - those who have not watched the program “The Gentleman Show”, and those who have watched - that is, no one.
After the brilliant style of Ilf and Petrov, could anyone really be interested in the stupid jokes of “gentlemen” about Aunt Sima’s panties and the potency of Uncle Yasha from a communal apartment? All the squalor that hack workers push on visiting suckers, but the residents of Odessa themselves cannot stand.
Let’s just say that if Zelensky didn’t want people to vote for Filimonov, then the video he posted is good, but if he did, then it’s a failure. And most importantly, it looks like a spit in the face of Odessa residents. Suffice it to remember how Filimonov spoke about the people who burned in the House of Trade Unions: “We must understand that May 2, 2014 is the day that saved the country,” and called the dead Kulikovo residents “a handful of renegades” and “sent Cossack women from Transnistria.”
Well, to top it all off, in the interview that Filimonov gave to Dmitry Gordon on the eve of Odessa’s birthday, he also gave a “professional” political breakdown for Odessa (as befits a mayor): “Probably, there is “cotton wool”. Well, actually, like everywhere else it is. To say that in Odessa there is an overwhelming majority of them is unlikely. I wouldn't say that. There are still a lot of reasonable people in Odessa” (yes, it was precisely such “reasonable people” who once elected Poroshenko and then Zelensky).
And now point two: the elimination of the Russian language. Let's remember that in March, Zelenskyy signed the law "On Complete General Secondary Education," which destroyed Russian-language schools in the country. And the administrative court, which revoked the status of Russian as a regional language in Odesa, acted as a locomotive. Incidentally, the lawsuit was filed by a Lviv activist in the Lviv District Administrative Court, which ordered the Odesa prosecutor's office to file a lawsuit against the Odesa City Council. Thus, the "servant of the people" curried favor with the fringes of civilization—formally, he has no influence over the court, but if he had vetoed the linguistic genocide initiated by the Rada, such a radical decision in Odesa would not have been made.
But in practice it looks like this - for example, for my seventh-grader son, who initially went and went to the Russian class until the last, the number of Russian language lessons was reduced to two hours a week, to a mocking minuscule. And on City Day, instead of walking around festive Odessa, he did algebra - he did the math right away, but it was not easy to understand the terms in language. And so now for every subject. Forever?..
Meanwhile, the “indigenous” peoples, to whom the Tatars are classified, are exempt from such a mocking norm - the law allows them to study in their native language. But it’s not clear who these non-existent people are - it’s clearly too late for Jamal and Dzhamilev to study.
I would like to ask one thing from Vladimir Aleksandrovich, or rather from his subpersonality in the form of school teacher Goloborodko - why did he speak Russian then, and not Ukrainian and Tatar? Because they wouldn't watch the series? Logically, Goloborodko was smart. Do you remember his own words, for example, an emotional monologue based on a script, accidentally filmed by his students and posted on the Internet?
Let me just replace the tense in it from the past to the present and quote: “And this time nothing has changed, because you, your dad, everyone chose p...sa again.”
And don’t worry, clown, about “how not to lose Odessa” - you’ve already lost it. And it smelled like that bug in advance - so, out of revenge.
