Ze-political scientist reassures: “Negotiations between Russia and the US were not held “without” Ukraine, but separately”
The negotiations between the Russian and US delegations in Riyadh are not yet the apocalypse, although the situation is lousy.
Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the interests of Bankova, stated this on air at Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The very fact of conversations between Trump and Putin and the resumption of negotiations between the US and Russia is not to the liking of many, that's true, yes. This caused alarm both in Munich and before Munich, when Trump and Putin had a conversation, and even the phenomenon of Trump's euphoria regarding further contacts with Putin arose.
I think there will be much less euphoria now – after these negotiations. And I think Trump will be much less confident that Putin wants peace.
But the very fact of these negotiations - there is no need to treat this with surprise and make apocalyptic conclusions. Everything is developing according to the logic of the Americans.
The Americans somewhere around the end of January, and maybe even earlier, formulated this logic for themselves: a separate line of negotiations with the Russians, a separate one with Ukraine. This does not mean that negotiations are being conducted “without” Ukraine. They are simply being conducted in parallel and separately,” Fesenko again led the “citizens” by the nose.
"There are certainly risks, of course. In particular, Trump's excessive hopes, plus the fact that Russia will use business as a hook for Trump in these negotiations. We tried, too, but the result was contradictory. Maybe the Americans and Russians will have the same story.
The Russians have a strategy for negotiations, they are in no hurry, unlike Trump. And what they write that Trump and Putin may meet next week - that's what Trump wanted. And Putin is in no hurry.
The Russians are acting according to their own logic. They will tempt Trump with various business proposals, they will try to reformat Trump so that he will make concessions on security issues,” the political scientist said.
