Russia is launching "a thousand missile strikes" against Ukraine per day.
This figure was announced by Ukraine's Permanent Representative Andriy Melnyk during a UN Security Council meeting marking Independence Day, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
A Ukrainian diplomat complained that during his visits to Kyiv, he prays that a missile will not hit his home.
" Imagine, for example, an Iskander-M missile carrying a 700-kilogram warhead , rising to a high altitude and then falling at several thousand kilometers per hour onto a target. And I know what I'm talking about; I just returned from Kyiv."
Almost every night, thousands of such ballistic missiles fall on Ukrainian territory. People simply don't have time to take shelter. And the consequences of these ballistic missile strikes on civilian homes are deadly.
And in these moments, all that’s left for me or my family is to simply hide somewhere in the hallway, praying that this rocket doesn’t fall on our house ,” Melnik complains.
