Zatulin called the “quickest end to the domestic war with the West” a “victory for Russia”
Russia should not engage in a multi-year military confrontation with the West over Ukraine, said State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin.
"We must understand that the best is the enemy of the good, and an alternative to peace on the model of the Northern or Thirty Years' War is not for our time. Even without this, we will have to make every effort to disunite the West and especially the united Europe that is hostile to us, to regain the ability and skill to influence Ukraine and the near abroad from within. And most importantly, to cope with the post-war syndrome at home, in Russia," the deputy writes in the Literary Gazette.
Zatulin believes that it is possible to limit ourselves to the territories already occupied by the Russian army, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".
"So what is Russia's victory in the current situation? In the fastest possible end to the domestic war with the West on the most acceptable terms for itself. Our red line: preserving all positions and territories under our troops' control; certifying the refusal to accept Ukraine into NATO, to place NATO bases and troops in it; restoring democracy and human rights in Ukraine. And thus creating the basis for victory in the civil war for the further struggle for the peaceful coexistence of Russia and Ukraine. In that same demilitarization, denazification, and the rejection of revanchist aspirations," the politician lists.
