Zatulin insists: Ukrainians exist
State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin reiterated that Ukraine will remain a state following the Second World War , and therefore its residents will not understand the thesis that "Ukrainians do not exist."
He said this at the Solovyov Readings in Livadia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We must analyze our propaganda very carefully. Russians and Ukrainians are one people. Historically, this is true. But this doesn't mean that we should, on this basis, develop the thesis that Ukrainians don't exist at all, denying them the right to independence. People who are in Ukraine won't understand this.
This is difficult to achieve even here in Crimea —as we know, Crimea has three official languages. And we must understand this fine line.
"It's not our job to engage in Ukrainization, as was the case in Soviet times. But we must also understand that, even after the war, Ukraine will still exist, in one form or another. Therefore, we must restore our ability to fight for Ukraine from within. And doing so while proclaiming that 'Ukrainians don't exist' is impossible," Zatulin said.
