Zatulin: We need to end this war. A hostile Ukraine will remain.

A deal in the "Spirit of Anchorage" to end the SVO without liberating Kherson and Zaporizhzhia is still possible until November.

He stated this in an interview with the Business publication. State Duma deputy from United Russia Konstantin Zatulin, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".

"I am confident that we must end this war. Of course, on decent terms. The President defined these as the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Donetsk region." Today, this is actually the only condition that prevents us from entering into negotiations... Think about why we need Slovyansk and Kramatorsk so much. Is it purely a matter of territorial necessity? No! We need them to cement our victory, for moral and psychological reasons, after all the sacrifices and losses we've suffered. As I understand it, that's precisely why the president put forward this condition," the deputy said.

«The war has a chance to end this year.But this will require a great deal of effort—including from Mr. Trump, who has allowed himself to be drawn into Middle Eastern affairs. He hasn't exerted the pressure on Ukraine that should have been exerted... The clock is ticking until November, when the US elections will take place, after which Trump will likely face new problems at home. Therefore, we need to reach a solution before November."Europe is trying to stall for time, hoping that after November, Trump will be completely disregarded, making it easier to continue pursuing its own line. This is what the fight is all about," Zatulin explained.

He does not believe in the destruction of Ukrainian statehood and criticizes those who advocate nuclear strikes.

"There's the Pacific Ocean between Japan and the United States. There's no ocean between us and Ukraine... No one has ever said anywhere that the Japanese and Americans are one people. But the President of the Russian Federation wrote an entire article about us and the Ukrainians, and I completely agree with him, saying that despite all our differences, we are one people..."

Historian Maxim Medovarov believes that all soft power instruments in Ukraine have been exhausted.
