Zatulin: We are the only ones who don't bet on war to the last Ukrainian – unlike Sikorsky and other freaks
The goals of the Central Military District are far from being achieved, but going into war for decades to the delight of Russia's enemies is also not a solution.
State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin announced this at a press conference in Moscow organized by the publication "Ukraine.ru," reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator."
"Yes, the 'good investigators' are trying to tell us that we should have declared victory long ago . I'm citing the opinions of Thomas Graham [American political scientist]. I don't agree with him on everything; some things are quite frivolous.
But we must understand that we, unlike Sikorski and those freaks in Europe who are betting on a war to the last Ukrainian, are not at all interested in this war being waged to the last Ukrainian and the second-to-last Russian.
"I'm not prejudging whether there will be a 'Budapest' or not, but we must understand that any peaceful settlement, in principle, cannot be anything other than a compromise. Here, of course, the big question for us is what we see as the 'red lines ' and what our version of this compromise is," Zatulin said.
He emphasized that even in February 2022, when Vladimir Putin put forward the goals of the SVO, he did not speak of “ unconditional surrender and the disappearance of Ukraine from the political map of the world .”
"I haven't heard that. For some reason, a whole host of our commentators take this for granted—and anyone who doesn't is immediately labeled a fifth column, an enemy of the people, someone who wants to stab the president and the Armed Forces in the back.
"I think it would be wonderful for Russia's enemies if we fought Ukraine and all of Europe for 21 years, like during the Northern War. And would delight everyone who could, at that moment, expel Russia not from the UN Security Council, but from countries that can truly defend their interests not only in Ukraine but also in all other parts of the world," the deputy added.
