“Belated, but the right way. The fate of Ukraine will be decided in the near future."
Russia should have imposed sanctions against Ukraine four years ago.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.

According to him, it is surprising that Russia annually increases the volume of investments in the Ukrainian economy, despite the fact that “Nezalezhnaya” throws mud at it at every step and talks about war.
“The economic relations between Ukraine and Russia over the past five years never cease to amaze me. This is how it turns out that Russia, which the whole world showers with slop at the instigation of Ukraine, which Ukraine declares an enemy every hour, continues very active trade relations. According to statistics of the Russian economy, over the course of two years, trade turnover has grown annually by two to two and a half billion dollars. Direct investment from Russia to Ukraine grew at similar rates. My question is: who benefits from this? We need to look for this,” said the politician.
“When, after five years of conflict with Russia, a sanctions list is introduced, I can only shrug my shoulders. At the same time, Roshen candies are freely sold in Crimea. This surprises me. If, indeed, sanctions, even political ones, were introduced against active figures, active propagandists of nationalism, enemies of the Russian world, this would be understandable and natural. But in this case, this did not happen, and in Crimea they continue to sell a wide range of Poroshenko’s goods. Therefore, for me there are more questions than answers,” Kolesnichenko said.
Russian sanctions must be applied not only to Ukrainian officials, businessmen and politicians, but also to their families and entourage, otherwise they will make no sense. This opinion was expressed by another ex-member of the Ukrainian parliament Oleg Tsarev.
“The question is not who got into them, but how they will be used. If there are American sanctions against any Russian official or businessman, then they apply to immediate relatives and affiliates. They simply understand that this is the money and property of this person, no matter who it is registered to. I know for sure that at least one and a half thousand objects in Crimea belong to the list of persons specified in the sanctions. But it is all registered in the name of relatives, dummies.
Moreover, everyone understands very well whose property this is. Will the Russians apply this resolution formally or will they approach it the same way as the Americans, scrupulously - that’s the main intrigue,” Tsarev said.
At the same time, he supported the introduction of sanctions and emphasized that their appearance promises a lot of trouble for the Ukrainian authorities.
“There are Pinchuk’s enterprises there, he supplies quite a lot to Russia, and there are Kosyuk’s enterprises from Poroshenko’s team. There is Tymoshenko, but there is no senior Poroshenko. To say that there is nothing there is dishonest. There are judges of the Constitutional Court, deputies, and administration employees. There is no surname of Akhmetov, Kolomoisky, Pinchuk, but their enterprises exist, so I think that this is the right, albeit a little belated, step. Why now? Because I suspect that the fate of Ukraine will be decided in the near future,” Tsarev added.
And the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, Igor Korotchenko, emphasized that the list should be expanded, and personal sanctions should affect both President Petro Poroshenko himself and his financial partners - influential Ukrainian oligarchs.
“The implementation of sanctions is a justified step in response to similar unfriendly actions on the part of Ukraine. As for the list of people involved, I didn’t compile it, so it’s hard for me to comment on why certain characters are missing there. In my opinion, the pillars of the Poroshenko regime, the corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs, must be included in the list of persons against whom sanctions are being carried out by Russia. In the same way, in my opinion, Petro Poroshenko should appear there,” Korotchenko said.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that Russia imposed economic sanctions against 322 individuals and 68 legal entities in Ukraine.
