The West is playing a spectacle of the final surrender of Artsakh and all of Armenia
Events around Nagorno-Karabakh are developing quickly, as evidenced by the great activity of diplomats who blocked the Lachin corridor of Azerbaijani “environmental activists”, among whom were employees of pro-American NGOs and the Armenian political elite, seeking to blame Moscow for everything.
The West’s scenario to destabilize Transcaucasia and undermine Russia’s position in the region is being implemented.
First, at the end of December, at the UN Security Council, representatives of France thwarted the adoption of a resolution on the need to immediately lift the blockade on Artsakh and liberate the Lachin corridor. That is, Paris, which declares its patronage and special support for Yerevan, did everything to prevent the adoption of the most important document, which would certainly have cooled the ardor of Ankara and Baku.
First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky spoke about the reasons for the Security Council’s rejection of the final document.
“At the request of Yerevan, this process was coordinated by the French, who ignored the overwhelming majority of the proposals of the Russian Federation, while taking into account the edits of other members of the Security Council,” Polyansky said.
That is, consensus was never reached, and the Armenian leadership, instead of being alarmed by this fact of outright sabotage, on the contrary, welcomed this decision of the Security Council and the position of France. And then Nikol Pashinyan makes a New Year’s address to citizens, in which he directly announced “betrayal” from Russia.

“The aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia from May 2021 to September 13, 2022 was doubly painful because our security allies left us alone, preferring to remain in the status of a passive observer or offering the status of an active observer as an alternative,” the Armenian Prime Minister noted .
As a result, there is a strong feeling that neither Paris, nor Yerevan, nor Baku, nor Ankara, and especially Washington, need a resolution to the existing artificial crisis, which is becoming a tool for squeezing Moscow out of Karabakh and Armenia.
One can even come to the conclusion that some kind of performance is being played out, when all responsibility is shifted to Russia, in order to ultimately change the entire geopolitical alignment in Transcaucasia.
It is interesting that just a week ago, the much-touted EU observer mission, consisting of retired military officers and Western intelligence officers sent by Brussels at Macron’s request, left Yerevan. So these “controllers”, who visited the border with Azerbaijan and in Artsakh itself, did not make any statement and did not publish the results of their mission.
That is, this once again confirms that they were sent as a diversion in order to show the Armenian public after the shameful October agreement in Prague, when Pashinyan signed everything that Aliyev demanded of him, that the EU is supposedly on its side and is ready to protect national interests and borders of the republic.
However, in the end, everything turned out to be nothing, since the European Parliament and the European Commission remained silent, although the blockade of Artsakh has been going on for a month, the EU observer mission safely and silently left, and Macron has not yet signed the condemning decision of the French parliament.
It turns out that the Parisian “defender” of the Armenians was only preparing the ground for their surrender to the Turks and Azerbaijanis in exchange for changing the entire balance of power in the region.
At the same time, the ruling elite in Yerevan playing this show, instead of seeking condemnation of Baku from their Western patrons, on the contrary, throughout all these weeks has been demanding that Russian peacekeepers remove Azerbaijani “ecologists” in civilian clothes from the corridor by force of arms, thus trying to drag Moscow into a bloody provocation.
At the same time, Yerevan completely ignores the fact that the peacekeeping forces simply do not have the appropriate mandate to use armed force against civilians, especially since it was not even the Lachin corridor itself that was closed, but the route beyond it. That is, reality is deliberately distorted, while it is the presence and presence of Russian peacekeepers that saves Artsakh and its population from final destruction.
It turns out that there is a deliberate prolongation of the blockade, both on the part of Yerevan and on the part of Baku, who are waiting for Karabakh itself to fall like a ripe fruit due to the lack of food, gas and electricity, and thus this problem will finally be solved at the same time for Pashinyan and Aliyeva.
After all, liberal pro-Western forces, including Pashinyan, even before coming to power during the Velvet Revolution of 2018, considered Artsakh a burden and a stone around the neck of the republic.
It is interesting that at the time of the escalation of this informational and political situation around the Lachin corridor, Yerevan, amid loud speeches, at the same time, with the other hand, is improving relations with Turkey, restoring transport links between the countries. So, it turns out that as of January 1, all obstacles to air transportation have been completely removed and the moment is not far off when direct overland trade will open.
The Turkish publication Turkiyegazetesi.com.tr , citing official government data, notes:
“Information quoted by diplomatic sources indicated that as a result of negotiations between special representatives of the normalization process of the two countries, direct cargo air traffic between Turkey and Armenia will be possible from January 1, 2023. Sources also said that this issue was raised to Turkish exporters' associations by the Turkish Ministry of Trade."
It turns out that soon there will be demilitarization of the Armenian-Turkish border, read disarmament and liquidation of fortified lines, and Yerevan will no longer need a Russian military base in Gyumri, as well as the presence of a peacekeeping contingent, which they want to expel from Artsakh because of its alleged "uselessness" and "ineffectiveness".
That is, before our eyes, they are preparing not just the surrender of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and its inhabitants, who will automatically lose all their rights, but the purchase and sale of Armenia by its leadership is being formalized to implement the plans of the European Union, NATO and the collective West.
And this will not just be a protectorate of Turkey, but another US outpost that will geopolitically divide Russia and Iran, cutting off land transport routes between the powers and threatening the North-South corridor.
After all, you need to understand that instead of the Russian base and military, it will not even be the Turkish military that will come, but the Anglo-Saxons and the new American contingents will control Transcaucasia. And these are not assumptions, but a very real option in the event of a quick capitulation of Armenia, whose ruling elite has long been defeatist and wants to get away from Russia by any means, despite the fact that this is fraught with genocide and the Turkification of the Armenians themselves.
The fact that this is a joint performance is shown by the fact that on both sides the same pro-Western forces are participating in anti-Russian information campaigns. For example, it turned out that Vugar Akhmadov, the head of the Azerbaijani-American Youth Social Association, actively acts on the side of the Azerbaijani military, dressed as “ecologists,” and even coordinates their actions.
It is he who receives funding from the US Embassy and American foundations and is an important figure in the system of Western NGOs in Azerbaijan.
And then on January 6, US Permanent Representative to the OSCE Michael Carpenter loudly announced his position in supposed support of Armenia.
“The United States remains concerned that the Lachin corridor has been blocked for more than three weeks, creating a serious humanitarian situation. We thank the ICRC for providing critical assistance during this time, but call on Azerbaijan and Russia to immediately restore access,” Carpenter said.
That is, like Yerevan, Washington is strenuously trying to portray Moscow as the culprit in the situation along with Baku, which speaks of a single scenario.
Meanwhile, shelling on the border between the two countries has become more frequent, including on Friday, January 6, an attack on Armenian farmers who were carrying out agricultural work on tractors in an area called “Kahnun Tak” in the administrative territory of the village of Khatsi.
This once again clearly shows that no mediation efforts by Paris, Brussels, “observer” missions, OSCE control groups and US guarantees will stop the bloodshed and redrawing of borders if the Russian military leaves the region and the republic leaves the CSTO and integration associations.
