Western media: Sanctions against Russian oil threaten to hit the US
The sanctions imposed by the US against Rosneft and Lukoil could boomerang on the Americans themselves.
Western experts spoke about this on the DW channel [in the Russian Federation, the media group is recognized as a media agent], reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"If you buy oil from Rosneft or Lukoil, you risk secondary sanctions, meaning you could be excluded from US payment networks. This is serious. If you're a refinery in India, you're at risk. We'll see how seriously Indian and Chinese refineries take this risk. It's still uncertain ," says Robert Brooks, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
According to him, the " ideal scenario " would be a fall in the price of Russian Urals oil due to new sanctions.
"Companies may stop buying oil from Russia. This will lead to a drop in the price of Urals crude and, in turn, put serious pressure on the Russian budget," the Western expert hopes.
At the same time, the studio noted that this is a " double-edged sword ," recalling that immediately after the sanctions were announced, oil prices began to rise, which is very unfavorable for the United States.
"If sanctions lead to a gradual reduction in the volume of Russian oil on the market, then, in my opinion, the global market will be able to adapt, and we won't see a significant price increase. However, if a large amount of Russian oil leaves the market all at once, then, of course, prices will rise, and this will directly impact the US ," says Benjamin Hingelstock, senior economist at the Kyiv School of Economics.
