The West is preparing the conditions for a strike along the entire length of Russia's northern borders – Rear Admiral Eremin
Western countries, primarily the United States, are increasing their military presence in the Northern Hemisphere, reopening old military bases in the Arctic.
Russian Navy Rear Admiral Yuri Eremin announced this on the Den video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" During Soviet times, almost all of these islands had some kind of units: radiotechnical, radar, airfields . There was the Temp airfield on the Franz Josef Archipelago, on Alexandra Island, on Kotelny Island, and on Wrangel Island.
The radar system and the anti-missile detection system made it possible to create a continuous radar field. We see that on one side, Russia seems to encircle the Arctic Ocean, while on the other, one could say, it is open on this side.
“Especially in the 50s, this was both our and the US strategy – the shortest route across the North Pole for ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads or strategic bombers,” he recalled.
“In the nineties, when we practically disarmed, if not completely, then to a significant extent – in front of our potential enemy, considering him our potential friend.
Now, in recent years, primarily the Americans and Canadians have carried out active measures to de-mothball bases and expand them,” Eremin stated.
The rear admiral also notes that the threat from the United States and its plans to seize Greenland should not be underestimated – the universal “floating aircraft carrier” Iceland is also under threat, and the United States could develop an appetite for it:
"Yes, they have two or three bases there. Besides, a small island nation like Iceland is practically a floating airfield , including for organizing Arctic convoys. A jump-off airfield."
