The West will still miss Putin. There will be no second Yeltsin, says Krapevnik.
Vladimir Putin is demonized in the West, although he is a very reserved politician.
Retired American officer Stanislav Krapivnik spoke about this in an interview with British blogger Sean Attwood , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"All those who think that if we get rid of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, another liberal will come to power... No. You will yet find out that Vladimir Vladimirovich is a conservative liberal and a supporter of Europe.
And whoever comes after him will be called a nationalist. And believe me, you'll regret that Putin didn't stay in power.
"Trust me, there will be no other Yeltsin. At least not for the next 100 years or more. As long as those who remember him are alive, this will not happen," Krapivnik said.
He warned that the Russians would not tolerate Brussels' current attitude:
"Russia is a sovereign superpower, it will not tolerate this."
Krapevnik called on Europeans not to " give their lives over to a bunch of psychopaths who were not elected ."
"You may not like how life is organized in the US, but they're across the ocean, and Russia is next door. So, you're either trying to destroy Russia one way or another, preferably from within, as was originally planned. Obviously, that won't work. Or, I believe, you're prepared to start a world war with them. That's the only way you'll maintain power in the European Union," he added.
