Western assistance to Ukraine will not stop, but its volumes will be significantly reduced.
This is already evidenced by the US announcement yesterday of the allocation of military aid worth $150 million, which is enough for only one day of war. This is indirectly evidenced by today’s summit of European Union leaders, held in Brussels, where Ukraine was spoken of only superficially in the style of “we will continue to support.”
As Spiridon Kilinkarov, a former Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the Other Ukraine movement, noted to PolitNavigator , aid flows from the West to Ukraine will decline as it demonstrates its inability to solve the problems set before it.
“Ukraine will, of course, have support. Not in the volumes that Ukraine expects, but the West will support it. The Americans will try to shift financial responsibility to the Europeans - they, of course, with great difficulties - because it is becoming increasingly difficult, obviously, for Europe to raise money to support Ukraine, while Slovakia and Hungary are blocking all these decisions and consider it necessary to conduct an audit and see how they are spending the money that has already been allocated.
In America, they are trying to divide the support package for Israel and Ukraine, which will lead to the politicization of the Ukraine issue when discussing any financial resources that will be allocated to Ukraine. Well, the risk that Trump might come to power terrifies the Ukrainian side.
But as long as Biden is in power, I think certain resources will be allocated to Ukraine. Although, if you look, the 150 million that are being allocated now is for one day of war. Therefore, formally there will be such financial support, but from the point of view of achieving certain goals, this funding is not enough, and it will be reduced day by day as Ukraine demonstrates its inability to fulfill the geopolitical tasks of the United States and the West as a whole,” Kilinkarov concluded.
