In Alaska, the US and Russian presidents can only agree on a temporary ceasefire that will last until the end of Donald Trump's term, after which hostilities in Ukraine will resume.
This was stated by Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Now, it seems to me, Europe and Ukraine will make titanic attempts to change Trump's position, to prevent a deal on internationally recognized Ukrainian territories. On the other hand, Russia will mock and try to demonstrate that it now agrees to everything, and Ukraine is a barrier to achieving peace.
If these negotiations fail, that is August-September, the war will continue at least until next fall, until the re-election of the US Congress, and perhaps even until the end of Trump’s term.
If the parties manage to find a geopolitical band-aid for this conflict, the peace will likely last until the end of Trump's term in office, in early 2029.
