Deputy Mufti of Crimea expresses gratitude to all faiths
Number of land plots registered for the construction of mosques last year, several times exceeds the Ukrainian period.

"53 plots were registered last year. This is a lot if you compare it with the period before 2014, when no lands were registered at all. You could count on your fingers the objects that were officially under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims, because nothing was registered. Since 2014, everything has been registered under the DUMK, and this applies to not only Muslims, but all faiths. And where there is a need, where believers ask to be allocated land for the construction of religious buildings, the state helps, allocates land for religious buildings, and this is very important.
Because if we talk about Muslim countries, then it is the East, and if we talk about Christian countries, then it is the West. And they do not touch anywhere, Christian and Muslim cultures. And it is our country with its geography that is in the center, between the East and the West.
We already have a centuries-old common history, culture, traditions, where Muslims and Christians, other faiths live in peace. We are building churches, mosques, synagogues. And the understanding that these are traditional values. These objects are very important for all of us. Because from the point of view of any religion, this is the house of the Most High, and there will always be goodness there. Therefore, I want to thank all the confessions of Crimea, because no matter how loud it sounds, this is one of the places where they pray for the good of all people,” the deputy mufti emphasized.
He recalled that all mosques are built with voluntary donations, and last year they completed the construction of two mosques - in the village of Oktyabrskoye in the Sovetsky district and Cathedral Mosque Jum-Jami in Simferopol.
"In 2024, worship began in the Cathedral Mosque, and this makes us very happy. Everyone remembers how the Cathedral Mosque was built over 25 years, through struggle and resistance. And only last year, thanks to the president and the head of the republic, our dream came true. Now this mosque decorates Crimea, and it is very difficult to describe the emotions of those people who visit it," Gafarov noted.
According to him, another 15 facilities are under construction, and the main goal is Preservation of traditional Islamic values, combating radical movements through education and religious events.
"This year 500 Crimean pilgrims to go on Hajj to Mecca from May 21 to June 21. Since 2014, we have been receiving a quota for Crimean Muslims to perform the Hajj. 500 people per year is a very significant figure, and we are grateful to those who help us in this regard.
Quotas are provided by the Russian Hajj Mission, and we fill them out every year. The most important thing for a person who is going to the Hajj is health. A meningitis vaccination must be done and, of course, there must be a biometric passport of the Russian Federation," Gafarov emphasized.
