“In order to preserve the life and health of citizens who were sent through checkpoints and State Border Service personnel due to the dangerous environmental situation at the Titan plant on the territory of the TOT Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a decision was made to temporarily stop the operation of these entry-exit checkpoints. The State Border Service will continue to monitor the situation. If the situation worsens and a threat to the life and health of civilians arises, a separate decision may again be made to terminate the passage of citizens,” the message says.

Earlier, Ukraine announced temporary closure of the Kalanchak and Chaplynka border checkpoints on the border with Russian Crimea under the pretext of an environmental disaster after the release of chemicals into the atmosphere at the Titan plant.

As PolitNavigator reported, ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexei Zhuravko said that residents of villages bordering Crimea in the Kherson region should demand from the authorities the resumption of water supply through the North Crimean Canal, since not only Crimeans suffer because of this, but also the population of Ukrainian territory.
