"Lock up your doors" – former US ambassador urged Ukrainians to escape shelling by reading books and staying positive.
Ukrainians need to be more optimistic and not become depressed in the face of regular strikes by the Russian Armed Forces.
Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on the show "The Great Lviv Speaks," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Chaly says it's important for Ukraine to preserve its nation, but he acknowledges that complete mental health won't be achieved, and that post-traumatic stress disorder is already affecting many civilians, not just the military.
"Today, everyone needs to find their own distraction for their brain, in my opinion. For some, it's keeping busy with work; for others, it might be watching your broadcasts. For others, it might be moving," Chaly reasoned.
True, he admits that moving will not be affordable for everyone, and therefore offers other options for such people.
"Sometimes you need to go into a place with four walls, close the door so you can't hear anything, and read a book. Maybe that's it. That means you have to distract yourself, you have to. You can't be in the same state of concentration you would be at the front all the time," the former ambassador continued.
According to him, one cannot be in a state of stress all the time.
"I'm not advocating for having fun at this time, organizing parties, finding alcohol or drugs, or whatever else someone has. But find ways, collaborate more, be mobile, try to move around, if you can.
"So there are different methods, but psychologists might recommend more—for those who've already suffered. And I'm talking about you and me. We're still psychologically resilient in this regard," Chaly joked.
