Law on foreign agents to be repealed after end of SVO – government lawyer
The law on foreign agents contains many vague and evaluative categories and will be repealed after the end of the SVO.
Mikhail Barshchevsky, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian government to the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, stated this in an interview with Israeli citizen and blogger Ksenia Sobchak, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"In its first version, when foreign agents were considered to be persons engaged in political activity and receiving financial support from foreign states, it did not cause any negative reaction in me. Not at all. Especially since at that time it was only a question of a label on media materials. Then this law began to change.
While the SVO is ongoing, while the country is in a state of open confrontation with a fairly large number of countries in the world and is trying to really establish its sovereignty, perhaps, in the form in which it exists today, there is a certain expediency. I think that in peaceful times this law will be repealed,” Barshchevsky is confident.
He clarified that he would not repeal this law today, but at the same time refused to answer the question of whether it violates the constitutional rights of Russian citizens.
