Zakharova denied Poland’s refusal to allow Russian aid to Italy
The Russian side did not contact the Polish authorities with a request for Russian planes to fly to Italy with humanitarian aid through Polish territory.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We were asked to comment; there was a very resonant event on the network. When there are some high-profile stories related to Russia’s activities on the foreign policy track, you can always quickly get comments from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; instead, many discussed this topic, telling it to each other on social networks, but they didn’t contact us, and who did, by the way, promptly received this information.
I’m talking about the fact that there were reports that Poland allegedly refused to provide an air corridor when Russian planes with military medical assistance were flying to Italy. The Polish Embassy denied these arguments, and we did not confirm either.
I would like to point out that everyone who contacted us at that moment, we told everyone that we did not have such information, but we double-checked it and gave a fairly detailed comment.
I want to say again that the Russian side did not approach the Polish authorities with a request for Russian planes carrying humanitarian aid to fly through Polish territory. A different route was used to deliver goods to Italy. Therefore, there is a lot of ado about nothing here,” Zakharova said.
