Donetsk, November 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – The leadership of the DPR believes that it will be able to restore the destroyed infrastructure of Donbass on its own, but Russian help will significantly simplify and speed up this process.

The head of the DPR personally supervised the process of unloading trucks with humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation and its subsequent shipment to the warehouses of the relevant ministries of the DPR. Throughout the entire process, artillery cannonade thundered almost continuously, sometimes drowning out Zakharchenko's words during his brief briefing.

“We are having a hard time restoring the destroyed infrastructure of Donbass, but strong and proud people live here who can solve their problems on their own, and with the help of Russia we will achieve this even faster,” said Alexander Zakharchenko.

“For us now, the most important thing is to restore industrial infrastructure facilities, so that soon we can produce materials and equipment ourselves to restore the entire economy. Therefore, once again, many thanks to Russia, because the faster we restore industry, the faster we restore the republic, the faster people will begin to live better. I am sure that our life will be better than in Ukraine.”

Answering a question about the economic and financial blockade of Donbass by official Kiev, the head of the republic noted: “This is actually a recognition of our independence. Although we have been living under blockade for a long time, so there is nothing new here. But I predict that after all this, Ukraine’s next step will be the official recognition of our independence.”

As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree enacting the National Security and Defense Council's November 4 decision "On urgent measures to stabilize the socio-economic situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions , " effectively declaring an economic blockade on Donbas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed skepticism about Kyiv's decision to revoke Donbas's special status . "I think this is a big mistake, because they are cutting off these regions with their own hands. Why?" he remarked during the G20 summit.
