"For the courage, fortitude, and mass heroism displayed by the defenders of the city of Donetsk in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Donetsk People's Republic, the city of Donetsk is awarded the title of Hero City," the decree states, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The city is protected by people. They build it and work in it. But the city itself is a fighter. Every wall, every tree, every building is a fortress. It is not for nothing that there is such a proverb that houses and walls help. The walls of our city help us.
And our task is to make sure that this city prospers in the near future. So that traces of the war remain only where we ourselves want it, so that our children remember how the city fought, how the people who defended it fought,” the head of the DPR emphasized during the announcement of the solemn document.
