Over the year, the number of war-affected children in Donbass has doubled – UN report
The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that over the year the number of children in need of urgent humanitarian assistance due to the conflict in Donbass has almost doubled - to one million.

This is stated in a press release from the Ukrainian representative office of the organization.
“As the conflict continues with varying intensity in eastern Ukraine, it enters its fourth year, 1 million children are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance - almost double the number last year,” the press release said.
Human rights activists noted that the increase in the number of children (we are talking about another 420 thousand girls and boys) who need help is associated with fighting and the constant deterioration of living conditions in eastern Ukraine.
“This invisible emergency is a crisis that most of the world has already forgotten about. For the past three years, children in eastern Ukraine have lived in constant fear of unpredictable fighting and shelling,” said the head of the representative office in Ukraine, Giovanna Barberis.
In the fall, authorities announced the number of children killed during the ATO: 68 children died and another 152 were injured.
