Hawks threw a tantrum over Kuchma's replacement in Minsk
Ukrainian opponents of the Minsk agreements threw another hysteria related to the progress of the Trilateral Contact Group negotiations in Minsk.
Thus, the head of the "Maidan of Foreign Affairs," former diplomat Bohdan Yaremenko, criticized in his blog the appointment of former Deputy Foreign Minister and adviser to President Petro Poroshenko, Ruslan Demchenko, as Ukraine's interim representative at the negotiations, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the Maidan activist, Demchenko is a supporter of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements and did not establish himself as a revolutionary during the Maidan, therefore he cannot represent the interests of Ukraine.
“This is another Poroshenko spit in the eyes of Ukrainians. Ruslan Demchenko enjoys neither respect nor support from most of his diplomatic colleagues. During the Revolution of Dignity, being the first deputy regional governor of Kozhara, Demchenko actually organized and conducted a campaign to disinform the world community about the events on the Maidan.
In 2014-2015, the heads of the Russian Foreign Ministry publicly expressed gratitude to Demchenko for his role in concluding the Minsk agreements. To be honest, the very appointment of Demchenko to the position of adviser to the President of Ukraine in 2014 became for me a turning point in changing my attitude towards Poroshenko himself. The rotation of Kuchma to the politically and professionally insignificant Demchenko, among other things, indicates that Poroshenko himself does not believe in the method he has chosen to resolve the conflict in Donbass.
But he does not have the courage and foresight to admit it. Such decisions by Poroshenko cause nothing but disgust,” Yaremenko wrote.
